German police arrested 11 suspected members of the Nigerian mafia group Black Axe, involved in large-scale romance scams and money laundering. The group, with a stronghold in Nigeria, used false identities to deceive victims in dating scams, resulting in damages of 5.3 million euros in Bavaria in 2023 alone. Nationwide raids across 19 properties led to these arrests, marking the first major crackdown against the Black Axe gang in Germany.
