On Friday, Iranians voted to elect a new president from a field of six candidates, including a solitary reformist who hopes to challenge the conservative dominance in the Islamic republic. Originally scheduled for 2025, the presidential election was brought forward following the death of ultraconservative Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash last month.
