Christians observe Good Friday today, solemnly remembering the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth, where the faithful believe that the divine Son of God paid the price for sin to reconcile countless people to their Creator through his death on a cross, followed by the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.
Many young Senegalese complain about a lack of opportunities in the country and some try to make the dangerous journey across the sea to Europe. But that often ends in disaster. The people of the fishing village of Fass Boye, around a three-hour drive from Dakar, know all about that. The villagers are still mourning more than 60 people who died trying to cross to the Canary Islands. Yet, most of them still want to take that chance.

Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt suffer the highest levels of air pollution in Africa, environmental NGO Greenpeace said in a new report.
"Exposure to air pollution is the second leading risk factor for death in Africa," the report added.
