A former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Chief Nduese Essien, has urged Nigerian politicians to stop empowerment schemes to people, saying it is a wasteful cover-up for consistent governance failures at all levels. Essien, who stated this in a statement he made available to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday, also described empowerment programmes by politicians as avenues to squander people’s money.
