Global air temperatures in the 12 months leading up to June 2024 were the highest on record, averaging 1.64°C above pre-industrial levels. Last month was the hottest June on record worldwide, according to the EU’s climate monitor, capping a half-year of wild and destructive weather, from floods to heatwaves.
