Its wind-up is visible, giving players time to react if they're paying attention.

Within the crumbling walls of the Forgotten Castle and the shadowy depths of the Goblin Caves, danger takes many forms. While some threats charge at you with raw fury, others stand their ground, shield raised, daring you to Dark And Darker Gold make the first move. One such enemy is the Skeleton Guardsman, a deceptively disciplined undead warrior that punishes careless aggression with swift retribution.

Whether you're venturing through the dungeon in search of Dark and Darker Items or farming enemies to build up your reserves of Dark and Darker Gold, the Skeleton Guardsman demands respect. Unlike its more straightforward counterparts, this enemy uses defense and counterattacks as its primary weapons, making it a unique and rewarding challenge to face.

Who Is the Skeleton Guardsman

The Skeleton Guardsman is a shield-bearing enemy found in two of the game's most dangerous zones, the Forgotten Castle and the Goblin Caves. Clad in broken armor and wielding a weapon with calculated precision, this enemy stands out not because of overwhelming aggression, but because of its reactive nature. Designed to catch overeager players off guard, the Guardsman is a perfect example of how Dark and Darker tests not just brute strength, but patience and timing.

The Skeleton Guardsman comes in three variants: Normal, Elite, and Nightmare, each escalating in difficulty. But even the base version can be a serious problem if approached incorrectly.

Normal Variant

At its core, the normal Skeleton Guardsman has two primary attacks:

    Vertical Slash

A classic overhead strike. This attack is straightforward and can be dodged by strafing left or right. Its wind-up is visible, giving players time to react if they're paying attention.

    Diagonal Slash (Counterattack)

This right-to-left downward slash (from the monster's perspective) only triggers as a counterattack when the player strikes the shield. It's a punishing mechanic meant to discourage mindless hacking. To dodge, crouch, look down, and move to your left, staying mobile and watching your angles is essential.

Smart players can bait both of these attacks and punish them with clean spacing and timing. The Guardsman is best handled by waiting for an opening, dodging carefully, and then striking from a safe angle. Reckless aggression will almost always result in Dark and Darker Buy Items taking damage.
