In a move to commemorate this year’s Ramadan Fasting and Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has granted state pardon to 10 inmates serving various convictions within the Nigerian Correctional Service Centers.

An Islamic group, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has strongly condemned the recent gruesome murder of 16 travelers in Edo State, describing it as “cruel and barbaric.” The victims, who were returning from Rivers State en route to Kano State, were brutally killed by a vigilante group in Udune Efandion, an Uromi community in Esan North Local Government.

A security guard and father of three, identified as Ifeanyi Ani, was allegedly beaten to death by a customer at a popular eatery in Rumukrushi in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday evening.

The Northern Senators Forum on Saturday condemned the murder of traveling hunters in Uromi, the Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. In a statement issued in Abuja by the Chairman of Northern Senators Forum, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, the lawmakers described the incident as ‘deeply disturbing and saddening.’

In Nigeria, the rainy season typically spans from March to October in the southern region and from June to September in the northern part of the country. During this season, there is heavy rainfall which is often accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional flooding, especially in cities and towns with poor drainage systems and low-lying plains.
