Residents of the Ireakari community in Ilisan Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, staged a protest for the second time in two months on Saturday, over what they described as a decade-long erratic power supply, despite contributing over N11 million to install a transformer.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Gov Dapo Abiodun, save us from pitch darkness,” “We celebrated Christmas in darkness,” “Gov Abiodun, please help us, this suffering is too much,” and “IBEDC has failed us, Gov Abiodun come to our rescue”, among others.

Gunmen suspected to be fleeing an undisclosed incident on Christmas Day shot an assistant parish priest of Saint Kelvin Catholic Church, Ogbaku, in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.

The priest, whose identity had yet to be officially confirmed as of press time, was reportedly shot at about 8am on Christmas Day while approaching the church gate for morning Mass.

The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief materials to households affected by flooding in various communities of Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency, Enugu State.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have raided the offices and private residences of a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in Abuja and Kebbi State.

The raids were confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Malami’s media aide, Mohammed Doka.
