Voting has commenced at Polling Unit 007, St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to cast his vote.

The voting to elect chairmen and councillors for the local government areas began at the polling unit at 8am.

Vote counting has officially commenced at Polling Unit 024 in Ward B, Makoko area of Yaba, Lagos, marking the winding down of the 2025 local government election across the state.

However, the conclusion of the poll has been overshadowed by a pervasive low voter turnout, raising questions about the exercise’s overall impact.

An agent of the All Progressives Congress, Samuel Ogunlokun, has expressed concern over the low turnout of voters at polling unit 061, Ward A, in the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Ogunlokun, who spoke to our correspondent during a visit to the unit, said the poor turnout was disappointing despite efforts to mobilise residents before the election.

Popular actress, Iyabo Ojo, has responded to her colleague, Liz Anjorin, via a video post, stating that she should be held responsible if anything happens to her or any member of her family. This comes as Ojo has been fighting different battles, and receiving threats received.

Earlier in the week, her office in Lagos was engulfed in a fire but no causalities were involved. Her daughter, Priscilla, then stated online that the fire incident was only a part of other events that had been a threat to her and her family.
